Welcome to the Dutch Garafiano web site! Garafiano is an abbreviated name for "El Perro de Pastor Garafiano", a breed of dogs from the north west corner of the island of La Palma in the Canary Islands.

It is difficult to find English (or Dutch) language information concerning the breed, so it was decided to set up this web site, to share information, links and experiences amongst owners and those interested in the Garafiano breed.

The site has also proved informative and useful for people who are interested in adopting a Garafiano through Stichting AAI, an organisation that brings stray dogs from, amongst other places, La Palma to the Netherlands for placement in good homes.
